Saturday Sunset Braais on the Mount Nelson’s Oasis Terrace

Imagine a balmy summer evening with stunning views of Lion’s Head and Table Mountain, you are unwinding with glass in hand and nibbling on freshly baked crostini and grissini, dipped in homemade hummus, olive tapenade, taramasalata  and snoek pate. It feels good to watch the chefs getting heated up over the fire, grilling juicy rib-eye steaks; spicy boerewors; Karoo lamb rib cutlets; herby chicken thighs and local favourite – snoek with apricot, lemon and garlic.

But, first get your hands sticky with zingy peri-peri chicken wings, honey mustard pork ribs and freshly caught and cooked mussel pot.  The abundant array of exotic and colourful salads includes tabbouleh salad with prawns; caramelised baby onions with honey and mustard; and broccoli and bacon salad with croutons and blue cheese.

Hopefully you still have some space for the dessert table laden with delights such as typical South African malva pudding and ice cream; brandied peaches and nectarines; apple and blueberry crumble and Rudi’s “to die for” braaied brandied bananas.

This bon vivant affair, accompanied by the rich melodic tones of the marimba band, might just have you joining the band as master percussionist by the end of the evening.

The  Sunset Braais will take place every Saturday evening at 18h30 from 11th December 2010 until 8th January 2011. The cost for the evening is R245 for adults and R105 for children.
