Dekaf
Winner of the Golden Ovation Award for Comedy at the National Arts Festival 2010, Dekaf is a black, white comedy ... about blacks who think like whites ... told by a black guy ... who sounds white.
Starring Sivuyile "Siv" Ngesi
Directed by David Newton
Contrary to popular belief, there is a new generation of black people who don't bitch about the 'struggle', can swim, aren't hated by dogs and didn't vote for Jacob Zuma! Dekaf will take you into the world of a black man who was raised in the suburbs, educated in a public school system, dates white women and listens to Josh Groban!
Dekaf made its debut at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival 2009 under the directorship of comedian David Newton. The show filled its venue to capacity and gathered favourable reviews from the local press, who called Ngesi a brave new face in stand-up, delivering top quality laughs.
Dekaf is a bold production from the comedic mind of David Newton, whose show credits include Politically Incorrect; Defending the Laid Man and Laugh. Newton is an actor, director and producer, and has been described as one of South Africa's superstar comedians.
