Conductor KAMAL KHAN has performed withmany opera companies around the world including the Metropolitan Opera, Dallas Opera, Baltimore Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in Brazil, Teatro Bellas Artes Mexico City, Oper der Stadt Bonn and the Stadttheater Schwerin, Germany, Opera de Puerto Rico, Palacio de las Artes in Valencia and the International Festivals of Cervantino in Mexico and Santander, Mérida, La Coruña, Tenerife and Málaga in Spain. In Cape Town he has conducted Werther, Nabucco, Lucia di Lammermoor, Norma, Carmen, Porgy and Bess, Così fan Tutte, Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni and TheMagic Flute.  Last season he conducted L’Elisir d’amore and the South African premier of Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking andhe opened the Cape Town Opera 2010 season with a new production of Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims and will lead the Five 20 Operas Made in South Africa commissioned to celebrate the South African College of Music's centenary year.

Kamal Khan has conducted orhestras all over the world, including the KZN Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony, Buenos Aires Philharmonic, Beijing Symphony, Shanghai Symphony, São Paulo Philharmonic, Balearic Islands Philharmonic, Philharmonic Orchestra of Oviedo, the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

He is currently Head of the Opera School at the University of Cape Town. He has been assistant conductor to James Levine at the Metropolitan Opera and Resident Conductor and Chorus Master of the Palm Beach Opera. He was also Resident Conductor of the Opera Festival in Tenerife, Head of Faculty of the International School of Vocal Study of the Balearic Islands.
