Watoto Children's Choir
Watoto Children's Choir will be on tour in South Africa from March 2012 till September 2012 performing their new production "BEAUTIFUL AFRICA". Bookings are still open and you can contact the Cape Town Watoto Office to book the choir. The Watoto Choir toured South Africa for the first time in 2011 and performed at venues like V&A Waterfront, Allee Bleue Wine Estate, Playhouse with the Philharmonic Orchestera and Drakensburg Boys Choir, Oysterbox for celebrities like John Smith, Kingspark Stadium, Hillsong, Special event with Retief Burger, and many more.
This is the voice for millions of orphan and vulnerable children in Africa. This choir has toured internationally since 1994 to not only create awareness for children, just like them, who have lost their parents due to HIV/Aids, poverty and war, but also to inspire the world with their stories of HOPE of how they are being raised up as Africa's next generation of African Leaders.
Watoto, a holistic care program, initiated to serve the dire needs of Africa and her people, is thrilled to present a brand new choir tour entitled Beautiful Africa: A New Generation.
With vibrant, original African music; dance routines; life-transforming stories, the tour is indicative of the new generation of leaders emerging out of Watoto.
“Through the choir’s Concert of Hope, we share a message of transformation by telling the story of Africa’s rescued orphans and women. We hope to reach out to audiences with the message of Christ’s healing power,” says Gary Skinner, Watoto Founder.
The production debut in the US in September 2011 and travels through Canada, UK, Australia and in March 2012, South Africa. The choir will be traveling through Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Kwazulul Natal and Gauteng for 6 months not only creating awareness for orphan and vulnerable children, but also promoting the work that Watoto is doing in South Africa.
Bookings will be on our Website from January 2012. Bookings are still open and if you would like to book the choir, please contact Carita Neethling on carita.neethling@watoto.com
With its genuine appeal, accompanied by music and dance - an energetic fusion of contemporary gospel and traditional African rhythm - the globally acclaimed Watoto Children’s Choir has traveled internationally since 1994 as ambassadors for the millions of children in Africa, orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS, war and poverty.
Each of the children in the choir has suffered the loss of one or both parents. They live in Watoto Children’s Villages where they receive the care and nurture they need to grow up as productive citizens of their country.
Since its inception, 49 choirs have traveled globally, providing the children with a bigger worldview, an unusual opportunity they would otherwise never get. The choirs have been to Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and USA, among others. Their audiences have included royalty, presidents, ministers and the common people alike, capturing many hearts wherever they go.
